My first reaction, when offered the opportunity to direct this movie, was basically to go back to my emotional experience reading the book when I was a child, and translating that into a movie that would blow my mind as an adult. It all started with Pet Sematary but then It came along and for me, it was a mind-blowing experience. We were fans of horror at very early age we were exposed to horror movies very early in life so there was this addiction we carried very early, and then came Stephen King. It is the end of childhood.ĭEADLINE: What kind of influence was Stephen King’s novels to two young wannabe genre filmmakers in Argentina? REX/ShutterstockĪNDY MUSCHIETTI: We grew up reading Stephen King. And even though they don’t know it, the tone of that scene, how it’s shot and how the music underlines it, that tells you about it in a subliminal way because they all say goodbye to each other and there’s something there that’s telling you this is the end of something. It’s a bittersweet moment because if you read the book, you know that that blood oath moment is the last time that all of The Losers will be together, the seven of them. Perhaps that was enough of a bond between these kids?ĪNDY MUSCHIETTI: Yeah, and it’s very sad, too. What he’s eating is faith and imagination and the ability to fantasize about things that don’t exist, that are part of the magic of childhood, and yeah, I think the group scene was a bit of unnecessary broad metaphor of that rite of passage.ĭEADLINE: You instead see them making a blood pact to fight this clown if he comes back. It’s not an eater of worlds in regard to planets, or at least I never thought of it that way. Basically, it is the death of childhood, and that’s why it is not a coincidence that Pennywise calls himself the eater of worlds. That passage from childhood to adulthood is happening all the time in the story, which in its entirety is a parable of the horror of leaving childhood behind. For me it was about engaging the audience from an emotional point of view with the characters. I love Stephen King’s style, his way of shocking people with those tonal swings and unexpected intensity, but I think while it was jarring in the book, it wasn’t necessary in the movie adaptation. That actually was talked about during the whole story, but it was a bit unnecessary. My emotional experience with the book did not regard that scene at all, and I think in general it’s an unnecessary metaphor at the end of the story of a rite of passage. It just wasn’t a natural way into the story.ĪNDY MUSCHIETTI: I wasn’t interested in that part. The studio never said no, stay away from this. There is a bit of clout about that being a reason he left and I don’t think that was it, but clearly, when we boarded and Andy took over, those parts of the book were really not things we felt we needed in the story. When we got the material we inherited from Cary, those scenes were not there. It is hard to imagine a wide studio release featuring such a thing, but can you explain how you dealt with this as a creative decision?īARBARA MUSCHIETTI: To be completely honest, I think there is a bit of misconception there. Word was that he wanted to keep some version of the scene in the King book where these kids engaged in an act that pushed the boundaries of sexual content. Then, you get to be the first one that tells your friends about what they’re about to experience, and it becomes this collective experience, which is what we’re all trying to achieve in this world of disconnection.ĭEADLINE: This became an opportunity for you when Cary Fukunaga stepped away over creative disagreements. BARBARA MUSCHIETTI: I think the reason people responded so strongly when it went viral and had so many hits is because they wanted to share the pain, or the fear, that is magnified by their own experiences. "The blue-green color to the eyes are pigments to help them find their bioluminescent prey. is located within Monterey Bay, an area known for an abundant amount of. The glowing seen in the video is from the remote operated vehicle used in the dive shining on light colored tissue underneath a transparent dome, the Monterey Bay Aquarium said. Barreleye fish is one of nature’s finest creations. The fish does not produce light like some other deep sea creatures. When it sees prey caught in the siphonophore tentacles, it rotates its eyes forward and swims up to get it. The species was discovered and described in 1939 by the U.S. Siphonophores are unusual marine organisms that can grow up to 33 feet in length and drift around the ocean with thousands of stinging tentacles that are used to capture small animals.īarreleye fish are mostly motionless in the water, with its body horizontal and its eyes looking upwards. It’s known for the bulbous, green eyes that rest within its transparent head, which can detect sunlight at a depth mankind needs robotics to reach. This fish lives in such a deep habitat because of its light-sensitive, green-capped, tubular eyes. These animals exist at depths of 2,000-2,600 ft (600-800 m) in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Here’s where to find barreleye in Dave the Diver. The Macropinna Microstoma, or Barreleye fish, depends on its vision to persevere in the harsh deep sea. Barreleye fish (Macropinna microstoma) prefer the temperate waters of the ocean. Barreleye can be found midway into the game and used for your own sushi purposes. This unconventional and bizarre appearance makes them a popular choice of fish to showcase in video games, and Dave the Diver is no exception. It can be found all year in the ocean from 9 PM to 4 AM. Selling for 15,000 Bells, it is tied with the coelacanth, dorado, great white shark, stringfish, and golden trout as the most valuable fish in the Animal Crossing series. It also has a transparent head that is filled with fluids, which makes it all the more alien-like. When looking at a barreleye fish, you can see all of the contents inside of its body. They have transparent heads, allowing you to see their entire ocular setup inside their head. The barreleye is a sea fish in the Animal Crossing series, introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The barreleye fish might be one of the most unique Mariana Trench creatures in that its body looks like transparent plastic. In real life, barreleye are deep sea abyss-dwelling fish with a unique appearance making them stick out.
